Large Animal Veterinary Associates (LAVA) is a multi-doctor veterinary practice providing ambulatory veterinary care and emergency services to equine, ruminants, llama and alpacas. Our office is conveniently located in El Cajon, California with easy access from most parts of San Diego County. We provide services to much of the San Diego east county including El Cajon, Lakeside, Poway, Ramona, Bonita, South Bay, Alpine, Descanso and Pine Valley. We are expanding our service area to include Julian, Campo and Boulevard.

One of the many advantages of a multi-doctor practice is that each individual practitioner has his or her specialty areas. We provide services in equine medicine, surgery, reproduction, lameness and performance horse care as well as preventative health management including advanced dental techniques.

Service procedures include radiography (digital and cassette), ultrasonography (thoracic, abdominal, reproductive, tendon and ligament) endoscopy, full reproductive services (AI, frozen semen, pre/peri/postnatal care and semen collection), advanced dental techniques, shockwave therapy, IRAP therapy and prepurchase exams.

In addition, we have our own Preventive Care Program designed to provide our clients with a comprehensive preventative health care program.
